Dearest Kaia Family, Friends and Neighborhood. Corona is stopping us in our tracks. We simply do not have enough to keep us going. My heart stops every time I think about what is going to happen, how my staff is going to live, and take care of their own families. None of us have any other income.
Although the government has instituted ways for us to try and apply for help, it simply does not take care of our immediate needs, and the system is so overwhelmed that we won't have any relief for months to come.. and to be honest if anything substantial is going to come our way.
For two weeks, I have tried my hardest to re -invent a business from scratch, from launching our meal plan service to the neighborhood, to a farmers market and even offering Tacos made by Juan who has been by my side in the kitchen for 9 years. Just to try and get a little income in to pay my staff. We have been through so very much together, as staff, as friends and as a neighborhood through horrid hurricanes, death, marriages, births and now Covid. I know you and your family are worried and stressed just like mine... but if you have anything whatsoever to donate to us, to Kaia to help us keep these doors open.. I would be so appreciative.
I know its a very big ask.. I honestly am weeping as I write this as I would rather die than ask for help for myself..but I have to try and keep Kaia going for my brilliant family of staff to have something to still come 'home' to. They have been with me for so very long and most of you know them by name as they do yours.
This is a real emergency for us otherwise I would not ask. Please help us if you have anything to spare. I will make it up to each and everyone of you when this mess is over with dinner and wine... My doors are still open, please consider donating, ordering food for delivery or pick up from us, sign up for our meal plan on our website, or just pop in to our farmers market. I can use a few 'air hugs' now and then too through our window if you pass by..
I hope and pray more than anything that you all stay safe and that we can come together again soon and welcome you back again in our Kaia.. our 'Home'

COVID - 19 RESCUE US MEALS - WE ARE OPEN and launching a meal plan service at only
$ 10 per meal!
We just had our 9th anniversary on March 15th. For 9 years we welcomed our neighborhood into our house. We’ve been through so much, and once again whilst we navigate this very turbulent and uncertain period, we are here to help you. NYC shuttered all restaurants/bars from serving dine-ins, but is allowing take out, delivery and libations to go. If you don’t want to cook, or find it difficult to cook for you or your family, minimize your outside exposure, know where your food is coming from, lovingly and safely prepared by us, let us help you.
In addition to offering our regular menu for delivery and pick up, we are launching a meal plan service that is SEPARATE BUT not limited to my South African in-house menu & recipes Chef Billy is Classically trained and we can cook anything. We will offer a variety of foods that is cost-conscious, nutritious & kid friendly. Food that you can simply pop in the microwave and also warm in your oven.
We want you to eat well and not break the bank during this difficult time, and it will also help me to keep my staff on payroll and not lay anyone off that has been working for me for so long.
